I don't know what clothes I can wear that will not look strange with it. I know something formal would work but I can't be wearing formal dresses around all the time. How do I pull off black nail polish without looking like an emo/gothchick wannabe?
Black Polish rocks! I love it on my toes! As for the nails, keep them short and square, no chips, and always put a base coat on first as it tends to stain your nails. Most clothes will look cool with it, alot of celebs a.k.a Victoria Beckman wear it with smart black dresses, skinny jeans and pretty sandals.
But, before you go black, try a very deep purple instead, these also look really cool, but not quite so goth/emo.
So go get painting! How do I pull off black nail polish without looking like an emo/gothchick wannabe?
keep your nails really short like at the finger and make sure that you file them square. also make sure they are shiney and dont chip them if you can
and wear bright colors. the contrast will make it obvious you are not goth
paint white stripes on your black nail polish, or pink, or green
get your nails done so you have the polish and a jewel on your nail or get like a heart on the polish nail salons can do stuff lik that
anything at all would be ok, even black clothes, emo's and goths are more defined by their hair and make up, and footwear too, so long as you steer away from these being typical you should be ok,
I think as long as you keep the nail polish neat and tidy it looks fine using black! It only starts to look really emo/goth when it starts to chip and look messy.
well, there has been a lot of people i've seen wear black nail polish, and some looked goth others didn't. The ones who didn't had white flowers on the nail polish, and i don't like this, but if you do, you could add some silver or white jewels to the polish. You could also try to not wear black with the nail polish, because then your inching toward emo/goth chick wannabe or whatever.
Hope this helps!
Hey I used to wear black nail polish and not just at Halloween. I mostly wore lots of jewelry- rings and bracelets that sparkled and drew attention to everything. But gave it up- too much work keeping it neat looking. I even did the toe nails- but even with toe ring I kept looking down at my toes thinking they were diseased or something
just wear your regular cloths and if you look emo then take the polish off
keep your make-up light
don't use eyeliners and keep it sunny and fresh...use coral pinks...
and when I dress up... I tend to keep away from the GENERIC GOTH PIECES.... dress up things a little...
Like you can wear pants, but use skinny denim jeans, for example...because they're not one of those generic gothic pieces...
or you could always play your nails up with some nail art...to make it fun...nothing complicated...just put a nail sticker to your thumbnails...or all of your nails, if you want to..
normal jeans and skirts can also do....try adding some black colour to the shades in the dresses u wear so that it doesnt look odd!!
you can wear plain black nail polish but make sure that your nails are long and ';square-cut';..and wear a colorless nail polish as 2nd coat..
You could ask for a light pink, then possibly get a design this may cost more but it will be worth it get a design that fits you like black swirls with dots or ask for stripes i'm sure they have tons of types, you could get them black and ask for a white design on them too, there are many possibilities i mean i see guys at my school wear black nail polish but dress like they are in 3rd grade, no offense to any third graders, but you get a sense of style and looks in middle/high school and college and so on, just try not to keep it all black and like another person said don't try to dress in all black or wear heavy makeup it won't help you staying away from that whole emo/goth steriotype if you do dress in blacks and heavy makeup, sorry if i'm not the best at wording but good luck!
Keep your nails short and your polish perfect. No chipping allowed. Wear jewelry that is sophisticated, not childlike, and you should be okay. The idea is to make the manicure look adult.
black is just one of those colors where if you wear it on your nails, you look gothic. girls who are emo/gothic, or even guys, wear black nail polish. the only way you could get away with the black nail polish is if you decided to wear something more classy rather than trashy. don't dress like an emo/gothic chick. if u were jeans a nice dressy top and ballet flats or even pointy flats, you could so get away with the dark nail polish.
